The Art of Screwmaking - Handmade in Watchmakers Lathe
In this video I demonstrate a traditional handmade watchmaking method that a watchmaker could use to manufacture watch screws for the repair of antique watches.
The material is 2.4mm silver steel (drill rod). The screw has M1.0 thread a 2.0mm diameter head and is 3mm in total length . The screw slot is made with a 0.3mm slitting saw.
The turning was done on a Peerless watchmakers lathe and the slot was cut on a Sincere watchmakers lathe.
